Enyimba International FC of Aba, the reigning champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), have brought on board Chijioke Osuagwu, a former coach of Heartland FC and Abia Warriors.
This strategic move is part of Enyimba's ongoing efforts to bolster
their technical bench and playing staff for both their current Champions League
campaign and the upcoming league seasons.
The team, now under the
leadership of former Nigerian international Nwankwo Kanu, is focused on
strengthening its position in the football arena. An official representative of
the "Aba Elephants," as Enyimba are affectionately known, confirmed on
Wednesday that Osuagwu's appointment to the coaching staff had been finalized
and his letter of appointment had been signed.
Osuagwu was also observed
alongside Enyimba during their first training session at the Aba Stadium on
Thursday. This training session followed the team's return from their CAF
Champions League first-leg game in Libya.
Chijioke Osuagwu is renowned
for his role in nurturing grassroots talents, many of whom have gone on to
represent Nigeria at local and international levels. He achieved a significant
milestone by leading Abia Warriors to their inaugural Premier League
qualification after years of persistent effort. Osuagwu was also part of the
technical team that guided Heartland FC to multiple continental competitions,
contributing to their successes.

Furthermore, Osuagwu's
leadership was instrumental during his time at Busdor FC of Port Harcourt,
where the team came tantalizingly close to achieving promotion to the Premier
League.
Enyimba's decision to bring
in Coach Osuagwu demonstrates their commitment to assembling a strong and
capable team to excel in both domestic and international competitions. Under
the guidance of experienced personnel like Osuagwu, the club aims to maintain
its legacy of success and further elevate its standing in the football
community.
