In a significant move to bolster grassroots football development in Lagos State, Nigerian international football star Obafemi Martins (popularly known as Obagoal) has donated 40 pairs of footballs to the Lagos State Government's Football Grassroots Camping Program. This altruistic gesture aims to support the discovery of young talent and promote sports development at the grassroots level, aligning with the state government's initiatives to develop sports in the state.
The donation was facilitated
by Honorable Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Hon. Akinyemi Bankole
Ajigbotafe, who played a pivotal role in bridging the partnership between
Obafemi Martins and the Lagos State Government. This collaboration underscores
the importance of public-private partnerships in driving grassroots sports
development.
The donation was formally
received by Hon. Adebanji Atewogboye, Chairman of the Local Organizing
Committee of the Lagos Grassroots Holiday Football Camp and Senior Special
Assistant to the Executive Governor of Lagos State on Grassroots Sports
Development. This handover ceremony marked a significant milestone in the
state's efforts to develop its grassroots football program.
